MSc Gaobo Long started the preparation of paramagnetic submicron particles (MSP) since Aug 3, 2012, in Chongqing Pro-Biotech Co. Ltd.. In March 2014, Prof. Fei Liao joined as an advisor to the work led by Gaobo Long. In May 2014, Fei Liao and Gaobo Long cooperated with Hai Yang to apply for a project from Jiulongpo District (Chongqing), which focused on the modification of MSP surfaces with zwitterions and was approved. Till Oct 2015, Gaobo Long solved magnetic response rates and suspension stability of MSPs, but failed in concomitantly achieving the required hydrophilic surfaces, magnetic response rate and suspension stability.
At the end of Nov, 2015, Fei Liao and Gaobo Long created Chongqing BoLanYing Biotechnology Co. Ltd. to raise capital for the development of techniques to prepare MSP suitable for chemiluminescence immunoassay and similar biomedical analyses, following the technical ways proposed by Fei Liao.
In July 2016, Gaobo Long successfully prepared hydrophilic MSPs and their conjugates with streptavidin, for the first time, at the scale of 0.80 g/batch.
In Oct. 2016, such MSPs were founds to be superior to most MSPs in current market; this technique thus claimed for patent in China (appl no. 201610963764.X).
In Nov 2016, a Chongqing IVD company reported the superiority of the as-prepared MSPs to silane MSPs for the extraction of nucleic acids, a Suzhou (Jiangsu) IVD company reported the superiority of the as-prepared streptavidin-MSPs for chemiluminescence immunoassay. In Jan 2017, a Shanghai IVD company reported that the as-prepared carboxyl MSPs had nearly four-times binding capacity for antigens, except for the unsatisfactory conjugation efficacy for antibodies, and the aggregation of the activated MSPs, and lower luminescence signals.
In Feb 2017, the patent (appl no. 201610963764.X) was transferred to Chongqing BoLanYing Biotechnology Co. Ltd., together with other planned projects. In May 2017, PCT patent of this technique was claimed (PCT/CN2017/082374).
In July 2017, Chongqing BoLanYing Biotechnology Co. Ltd. constructed the production line for hydrophilic MSPs.
